Congratulations! You have a heart’s desire to wake up at the crack of dawn (or at the least, earlier than you’re already do). Regardless of whether you don’t consider yourself a morning person or you find it difficult to wake up early, the desire is unmistakably there. How can I say that with certainty?
Because you’re reading this post. If you didn’t have even the smallest inkling of a desire to wake up early, you wouldn’t be reading this passage right now. I know when I want to avoid doing something, I can always find a t.v. show to watch or even dirty laundry to clean (and I hate doing the laundry!).
So, take a few moments to shut out the voices in your head telling you this is a bad idea that’s doomed to fail and let me let you in on a little secret…
You will make time for what’s important to you.
In this case, that thing that is important to you right now is waking up early.
Maybe it’s because you’re over sitting on your dreams but haven’t been able to squeeze out any time during the day to spend on dream building.
Maybe you’re tired of giving yourself excuses and have decided to make time to exercise.
Maybe you’re feeling a little off-kilter and desire to set aside more time to read and study the Bible, pray, meditate or simply deepen your relationship with God.
Maybe you’d like a brief respite from the hustle and bustle of a life overflowing with calendar appointments and other demands on your mind and body but know that won’t happen while everyone else is awake.
Whatever your why is, write it down. For example, you can start with…
I am rising early because…
I must rise early because…
Rising early is my non-negotiable because…
Once you have your reason(s) listed out, post it where you will see it often, such as your bathroom mirror, closet, phone or alarm clock (if you still have one). Then, set an alarm to wake up early tomorrow. Don’t put it off for next week, the 1st day of a new month or the oh-so-vague someday.
Start the Early Morning Challenge this week. Whenever you’re reading this post is as good a time as ever.
You won’t be alone in this because I’m challenging myself to wake-up at 5:30 a.m. every day. I’ll do my part to keep us pumped up by sharing encouraging words throughout the week. I’ll even keep myself accountable by posting pictures of my morning routine during the week of July 5-11, 2015 on my Instagram account. That way, if you don’t see me posting a picture in the morning, you can feel free to call me out in the comments below or here.
We got this!
