The following is a guest post from Tamara.
Hey Y’all, I wanted to share with you an inexpensive, bright gift for someone on your list. With this week being Teacher Appreciation Week and Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect gift idea for teachers, and even moms or admins in your life.
I made these gifts a few weeks back for Administrative Professionals Day to thank the admins in our office for all of their help. I scoured Pinterest for ideas and then I consulted my budget. No match there! I had about $10 total to spend, so I went to my favorite place…Dollar Tree.
There I found cute clay pots for small plants. Then I headed to Wal-Mart for annuals to plant inside. I was trying to decide which plants to choose when one of the workers approached and told me about the clearance section. He must have read my mind! He told me he’d just marked some down. I walked with him to that area and saw so many plants. They weren’t in bad shape at all. I bought three of those little six packs in different colors.
I brought them home and set up my planting station on the patio.
In went a little dirt, left over from our last planting season. Then I added three flowers from the six-pack, more dirt, and then I was done. One down, three more to go.
After I finished, I had four potted plants for the administrative professionals in our office. The best thing, I didn’t go over my $10 budget for the four gifts.
$4.32 Clay pots from Dollar Tree
$4.86 Flowers from Wal-Mart
$0 Dirt left over from summer
That’s less than $2.50 a gift. As my mama would say, “You can’t beat that with a stick!”
What’s the best handmade, inexpensive gift you created, or received?
